The aerial view of Lo-Manthang has a barren, arid, and desolate landscape. The region, known as the Forbidden Kingdom, is dotted with small settlements with their ancient monuments and culture. You will witness a quaint walled city that dates back to the 14" century. The city has ancient monasteries and palaces.
Lying north of Kagbeni and beyond the Annapurna massif, Upper Mustang resembles the Tibetan plateau with its yellow and gray rolling hills eroded by violent winds. The name Mustang refers to the arid Tibet-like region at the north end of the Kali Gandaki, known to the locals as Lo. Upper Mustang is the last of the untouched and ageless lands in the Himalayas. The capital of Lo is Manthang, which, in Tibetan means “plains of aspiration”.
Our flight starts from Kathmandu late in the afternoon and lands in Pokhara. The trans-Himalayan flight to Mustang starts early next day. You can enjoy watching Macchapuchhre, the famous fish-tail peak, Dhaulagiri, Tukuche Peak and many other mountains.
