Located in the southern boundary of Annapurna Region, the Machhapuchchhre Peak (6,993 m) is virgin peak since it has never been officially climbed due to the impossibility of gaining a permit from the government of Nepal. This peak commands tremendous vertical relief in a short horizontal distance with its steep, pointed profile, makes it a particularly striking peak, despite a lower elevation than some of its neighboring peak. Its double summit resembles the tail of a fish, hence the name meaning "fish's tail" in Nepalese.
The Valley of Pokhara is called the Lake District of Nepal as it is dotted with many beautiful lakes reflecting the mountains in its water. Another highlight of the flight is the panoramic view of the Annapurna Range, especially the Fishtail Mountain locally known as “Machhapuchchhre” which dominates Pokhara’s skyline from every angle.
